Trainers Contender

The Contender is an archival silhouette that was released atorigine in 1995, with design ideas from Mizuno founder Rhiachi Mizuno.
It was a lightweight style characterized by stability and support, created for entry-level runners looking for a well-cushioned shoe suitable for on- or off-road running.
For the upper, the original Contender combined mesh with suede reinforcements for durable construction while retaining maximum comfort.
The midsole is compression-molded single-density EVA foam with Mizunod's Transpower technology in the heel, a highly responsive foam insert that also provides extra shock absorption and cushioning.
For the outsole, a new one-piece solid rubber was used with flex grooves in the forefoot for a smoother transition from heel to toe. The classic look 90 and the balanced way in which matte mesh and suede are alternated create a unique blend between a casual feel and the sporty origins of this silhouette.

In AW23, the Contender S evolves into a new combo of materials, mixing suede and synthetic suede, with a white base and contrasting eyelets.
